Language
The language of the conference is English. All submissions must therefore
be in English

Originality
Submissions to QUALIT2010 should not have been published previously
in a journal or conference proceedings, nor presented at another conference,
nor currently under review or consideration for publication or presentation
elsewhere.

Length
and format
The maximum length for all paper submissions is 10 A4 pages (Times Roman
10pt), including references and appendices. All submissions must be
in .DOC format and must use the QUALIT 2010 submission
template provided. This document also contains the general guidelines
for formatting of paper submissions.

All submissions must be made via the QUALIT 2010 submission system at

Uploading
and Submitting files
Author information,
paper details and the papers are uploaded through Easychair. At the
following link:
http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=qualit2010.
All papers must be in PDF format when submitted. Authors can continue
to make changes to their submission and upload new versions via the
submission system right up until the final due date.

Anonymizing
for Initial Review
For the initial review, author name(s) must not appear in the abstract
or in the body of the paper. You should also remove references to your
institution, sponsors, published or unpublished work if these identify
you as the author - these can be replaced with the tag <removed for
reviewing> for the initial review. You should also leave the Acknowledgements
section blank until the final version is prepared for the proceedings.

Review
Process
All paper submissions will be pre-screened for conformity with the submission
guidelines and overall appropriateness for the conference. Paper submissions
that pass the initial screening will be evaluated in a double-blind
peer review process. These include research papers or research-in-progress
papers. Each conference paper session is chaired by an IS academic with
expertise in qualitative research. The program committee will supervise
the review process, involving selected reviewers from the IS research
community. Acceptance and rejection decisions are will be finalized
by the program committee.

Review
Criteria
In general, the review criteria will be those typically used by major
journals and conferences (e.g. relevance of the topic, quality of the
research process, contribution etc). The results of the review process
will be communicated to the author(s) by the specified date. The author(s)
will be responsible for making the revisions recommended by the reviewers,
and for submitting the final version of their paper by the appropriate
deadline.

Commitment
to participate in the conference
At least one author of each accepted papers and all the members of accepted
panels must register for the conference by 1st November 2010.

RESEARCH
or RESEARCH-IN-PROGRESS PAPERS
QUALIT 2010 welcomes completed research or research-in-progress submissions
on any topic that relevant to the conference theme or to IS community.
These may take the form of theoretical essays, formal analyses, technical
discussions, and/or papers reporting on qualitative empirical
research. It is expected that completed research papers will include
finalised data analyses and documentation of results. Completed research
should be similar to journal submissions, but shorter (i.e. 10 A4 pages).
Research-in-progress papers typically represent work that is incomplete,
yet promising noteworthy outcomes (limit for these papers are also 10
A4 pages).

Review
Process. All research paper submissions will be pre-screened for
conformity with the submission guidelines and overall appropriateness
for the conference. Submissions that pass the initial screening processes

PANEL
PROPOSALS
Panel sessions bring together qualitative researchers with complementary
or conflicting perspectives on a research topic or another issue of
importance to the IS field.
Required
Elements of Panel Proposals: Ideally, your panel proposal should include
the following main sections. The sections are:
- Introduction:
General description of the panel or issues to be discussed or debated.
- Controversial
Issues and PanelistS’ Positions: Issues that will be
discussed and the names of those who will take opposing viewpoints;
identification of proponents and opponents is required for all debates.
- Panel
Structure: Description of the format of interaction among
participants and with the audience. Minimum of 2, Maximum of 4 panelists.
- Participation
Statement:
If the proposal is accepted, all participants have made a commitment
to attend the conference and serve on the panel.
- Biographies:
A brief description of each participant’s background, including
expertise related to the topic and views of the issues.
- References,
as appropriate.

Panel focuses on discussion and avoids presenting papers.

Panelists are leaders and/or well-published in the panel topic area.
- Panelists:
Panelists represent a diversity of opinions and present opposing viewpoints.
- Panel
Interest: It is likely the panel will draw a wide audience.

Proposal Page Limit Requirements: The panel proposal should
not exceed 3 (3) single-spaced pages. Abstract, keywords, and references
are excluded from this page count.
